Evaluation

1.In What Ways Does Your Media Product Use, Develop or Challenge conventions of real media products?

The Title I chose was "un-masked" as the name felt catchy and memorable, also chose this as it is one of the
main aims of the magazine - to unmask the music scene to given in depth interview for the audience.

The font I chose to use is "feast of flesh" and "birth of a hero", I chose this as it gave a grungy feel to the magazine I also used this font as it is the general style of the music scene I was trying to portray in my magazine, it is a similar font to kerrang and metal .

There wasn’t much to costumes all I chose for my models to wear was normal everyday clothes that the target audience might be seen wearing for example: Band t shirt, jeans and suitable wristbands. However there area few props I did use to help depict the audience these were: "59fifty" cap (as to oppose to kerrang who target mainly teenagers who go with the mainstream fashion but like punk and heavy rock), BC rich warlock (typical metal guitar) and an iPod touch.

However there was one clear obvious accessory that is majorly important to the "scene" audience I was aiming for and that’s the hair:

I used live pictures to the magazine to show the magazine isn’t just a one trick pony, so not just photo shoot images, this also helps make the magazine more interesting for the audience. Which are used a lot in other magazines this will help show our profession able sense and that our magazine could be as great as kerrang.

In my magazine I used instruments that are typically used in a metal band, I did this to help show the audience that we re not just about the latest gossip but the music too as to challenge kerrang as they use similar shots

For the studio shots I used props to help create sense that it’s an actual recording studio it’s relaxed and laid back. Also to show the fun side of recording.

For my photo shoot I decided to do it in a bedroom rather than a studio to help reach out to the audience and show them how the "stars" are quite sociable, it also lets the reader feel privileged as the bedroom shots make the overall article feel more personal.

This apposes kerrang and metalhamer as to contrast to their main article pictures of the stars "superposing" and sometimes "pouting" O.o

The Genre I was aiming for was the “new” Metal scene as listened to by the social groups known as “scene” and “metal heads”.

I have shown this in my magazine as the fonts I have used are similar to that used by bands and magazines in the same sector of the market... Also I tried to keep a main colour theme of black, white, red and purple which is the main colours that attract the social groups I was aiming to hit. To oppose to magazines and have originality to my magazine I added a spurt of colour here and there to take the reader away from just four colours and make my magazine more interesting.
