Evaluation of media products for 2010 Coursework

For my evaluation, I wanted to type it in a word document as it would be much easier.

Each question will be as word document and on each Question Post, you will find the link to the word document which will take you to a download link so you can download a PDF version of it.
It's easy to do and quite simple and much clearer than using a blog to post text and multiple images.

These are alternatives to powerpoint.

To Download:

• Right click on the link and select 'Open in New Window' it will take you to the website
• Click Download NOW
• The link box will open and you will have to wait until the countdown counts to zero
• A link will then appear
• Click the link and a window will pop up to 'Open' the file or 'Save' the file.

As I am not used to publisher, it was harder to construct a product that I felt look good. This is because it is harder to place things and text compared to Adobe Photoshop.

As you can see, I am finding it a lot harder to create and use the tools as I did in Photo shop. Looks like I may have to do some practise.

Here are some new versions of this, what I did was try to incorporate as much styling as I could using the publisher tools.

Comparison of My Cover and Q's

Below is listed my cover and a cover of Q I researched for inspiration when creating mine.

As you can see, I have taken some aspects of the magazine and incorporated them into the design
For example:

• The Provacitive Photograph
• The Variations in font size
• Large Headline which stands out
• Large Font used in Title
• Tag line above the Title

I am really happy with how it is turned out. It resembels Q magazine in a way.

They satisy their target audience.

Mine is roughly the same so theoretically, I should to.

An Update on my contents

My page has now started to get a bit more busy and it's starting to come to shape how i want it.
Hopefully, in the end with a few more features, it should look good :)

Here is my contents so far.... there is not much happening but i think once i get some more text and features on it, it should look the part!

Finished Front Cover

I am really pleased with this. It suits the photograph well and I feel that the colour scheme goes well throughout. Also, my favorite part is the line of artists which are all squeezed together but you can tell as they are all different colours. I have not seen this in a magazine before.

Front Cover: Working Progress

Here is my Front Cover so far. I like it so far and hopefully it may come out looking rather good. I got some positive feedback from my college friends and they all seem to think the photograph fits with my theme.

Here is the image i Have chosen as my cover image.

I feel that it is stricking and looks good and kind of has a sexy feel to it.

After some editing such as 'Heal' Tool and 'Liqufy' Tool as well as making some lighting and contrast edits through using 'Levels' tool, I came out with the result below.

Interview

To make my interview, Rather than script it, I recoreded it using my iphone.
I asked unset questions and Kelsi spoke her answer.
I found this to be natural and not worded, as sometimes scripts can sound like they are made up and do not contain much emotion.
Also, I gave me the chance to include her thoughts and feelings rather than me making them up.

Also, this is what real magazines do, they ask set questions and record the answers so for me, it feels more realistic

I’m great thanks, oh and let me just say hi to all the Holler readers!

Now, you’ve been in the industry since early 2007 but only just become mainstream, how have you found the change from moving to bar performing to performing at charity gigs with the likes of Girls Aloud, N Dubbs and Pixie Lott?

From 2007 to now, I think my music has changed dramatically to suit the style of what sells today. I mean, I used to sing live in the bars with my piano and do the little ballads and don’t get me wrong, I loved doing it but now, with being mainstream, the recorded raunchy techno sounds good I love doing and best of all, my fans love it.

Photoshoot

I have Just completed my photo shoot for my magazine.

I think it went really well and I am extremely pleased with the results.

I feel i have some really good professional photos, but then again, I am a photography student!

The model was professional and we had lots of time to do the photo shoot with it being just over an hour long including getting ready time.

We had all the props we could wish for onset and all items of clothing were there having gone out and bought some items a few nights previously

I think i got the poses right and whilst taking the photos and reviewing , I felt that I had found my cover shot right away.

New Title and Fonts

Here are my new fonts, As you can see I have selected the name 'Holler'. Not much change from the original but the change in just one letter has made a difference. It looks great in all these fonts but I have decided to choose the font 'Base 02'. This came in a close 1st with 'Capture it' narrowly missing my choice.
