INTRO..

I have selected the task of producing a Music Magazine for my AS coursework. I enjoyed this aspect of the preliminary exercises and I am confident i can produce an authentic and creative piece. At this early stage i recognise the importance of organisation and before I begin the production I am going to research exsisting publications. Popular music magazines now are; NME ( featuring mainly music of a rock or indie genre) and Q (which enjoys a more mature audience and features established artists). I'm also aware of less critical publications such as Top of the Pops magazine and Smash Hits, such magazines are targetted at a more mainstream and youthful audience. They feature typical popstars and boast strong conventions and a general structure. This genre of magazine is most appealing at this stage as it provides a strong outline already which would undoutably assist my creativity. The clear target audience of 'Tweens' would also provide me with a secure guide and direction for my product.

Before confirming my choice of genre however, I am to research competing magazines.
