This is an image of my friend Kris using the Nikon SLR camera that I used to take my photographs for my magazine.
This is a diagram of the essential controls of an SLR camera. As I did not have much previous experience of using these cameras, I used this diagram to master the basic controls of my camera before proceeding to take photographs.

After spending some time in the studio, I learnt how to use the key light, which lights the primary focus of my photograph, and the fill light which essentially lights the background of my image. My photographs were taken against a plain white screen to make it easier to edit the background.

The majority of my work (The front cover, contents page and images for my double page spread) was creating in Adobe Photoshop CS4, however I created my double page spread using Microsoft Office Publisher 2007. All of my research and evaluation work, including this, was uploaded to Blogspot.com.
The above images demonstrates how I created my main photograph for my double page spread. Firstly, I took the photo and adjusted the brightness and contrast. After this, I selected one of the 'Dry Media Brushes' on Photoshop, and went around the edges with the eraser tool to create a ripped edge effect that is commonly found in alternative music magazines.
