AS MEDIA PRINT COURSEWORK

Double Page Spread Research

Kerrang double page spreads.

Most kerrang magazine double page spreads consist of a page with just an image of one of the band members usually the lead singer either during a gig or at a photoshoot. This is really effective because it imediatly catches your eye and its quite different from other magazines where they have a couple of small images dotted around both pages with reems of writting which sometimes looses the readers interest.
I like the little bit of text at the top which looks like some key band/artist info something quick to read and might be interesting to the reader, i would like to incorperate this into my magazine.

Again this magazine has a small fact box which i really like, aswell as the big image. However there is more text than id like although i do like the panel going down the side of the page with additional need to know stuff. Similar to my idea there is a colour scheme using the colours white black and blue which works really well without over complicating the spread.
I definatly think i am going to put all these aspects from both magazines.
Finally i found this spread which has everything that i wanted to incorperate into mine. It has the same colour scheme as what i wanted, the use of desaturated images, extra information and a panel of images, i really think this would be a good template for me to model my magazine of because i wanted to achieve a kerrang style magazine which appeals to teenagers which this does. There is the right amout of text for the readers to not loose interest and the writting is layed out differently on the page so it doesnt look like paragraph after paragraph. I really like the quote going over both sides of the spread and the bold red colour stands out against the black and white images.
