I decided to use this image for my front cover because it has the whole group in, it is clear and it shows a playful comical side to the band which we find out further in the interview so it gives a bit of a seek peek into the article. Also theres not a lot going on in the shot its mostly focusing on the band which is what i wanted. I edited this image in photoshop to make it sharper by increasing the brightness and levels until i had the right balance.
Because of the stairs i decided to go with a red theme and the black from the background however putting the magazine cover together i found out the image needed to be closer so the stairs had to be cropped out but i chose to keep the red theme.
Double page spread image
I had previously seen a double page spread i liked when i did my research this had one page with just a black and white image on with half the title on and a smaller image in the corner, i thought this was really effective because again it means less writing because a teenage audience don't like to read pages and pages. The black and white effect i thought was really good because it again reinforces the black and white theme but it also shows the dark 'grunge/indie' idea of the magazine. I had all ready used a lot of colours through the magazine so i wanted to tone it down slightly and make the text sand out from it.
I used my initial idea of having the single images across the bottom of the page so you know who the interview is about.
With the interview above and a small fact file at the top to tell the audience key information on their life and interests. As well i made a panel going down on a tilt with all the tour dates in which resembled a bookmark.
