prelim pictures

This is my front cover picture for the prelim magazine targeted for parents of students at winstanley college as well as students that are attending. The picture shows an image of a girl who entered the competition as a pop singer and won first prize.

I took the photo in college and uploaded it on my computer to open it in photoshop and edit it. To edit it I used the polygonal lasso tool to cut the background out so that there was only the person on the cover so the readers attention is drawn to the person rather than the background. I also used the spot healing brush tool to make the face more even.
The next photo I took was a photo of another person but instead of them standing up they sat on a chair to make a different level. This made it different to the front cover photo so it made it more interesting.
To edit this photo I used the rectangular marquee tool in photoshop to cut others in the background out so it was just focusing on the main person. As well, I used the spot healing brush tool to help even the face colour.

If I had more time I would have considered taking photos of more people and in a more better location like in a studio has it provides lighting etc. Also, I would make sure the people in the shoot are dressed appropriately for what role they are meant to be and I would ensure there are props such as an electric guitar for a rockstar. Also, I would be able to edit the photos to a better quality.
Below is an example of how the front cover looked when finished.

Below is an example of how the contents page looked when finished.

I think that the front cover and the contents page were fair decent but could have been alot better if there were more pictures and text on it.
