Photoshoot 1

I carried out my first photoshoot at home as I felt confident setting up the lighting for facial shots of the model. I directed the light sources from below and to the left to highlight the facial features and give a slightly intimidating look. To fit in with the rock style of artists found in magazines such as NME and Kerang! I made sure my model kept in with this look. I shot her wearing a black leather jacket, dark make-up and also chose a model with a facial piercing. This gave immediate connotations of a slightly rebellish look which is the look I wanted for my magazine. When editing my images I airbrushed the model by creating a blurred mask over the face. I altered the saturation of the colours for a bolder effect and altered the levels to increase the drama and intensity of the lighting.

Edits:

Although this was one of my most successful shots from the photoshoot the face is too concealed due to the glasses covering a lot of the face. This may cause the front cover image to be less striking therefore I will not use this for my cover shot.

Again this was one of my more successful images. I like the mysterious look the model is achieving by peering over her glasses slightly, however for my front cover I feel a face-on view of the face would be the most effective at captivating the audiences attention.

I really like this shot, the image is a face-on shot giving ultimate impact. The model is giving a powerful, confident expression and a sense of mystery is achieved as she is peering over her glasses and her hair is concealing some of her face. This would capture the attention of the audience. The only problem with the image is that it is cropped quite closely to the face which would mean there would not be enough space to fit text on the cover of my magazine which is extremely important.

This image is fairly similar to the one above because it is a face-on shot giving ultimate impact. The model is giving a powerful, confident expression and a sense of mystery is achieved as she is peering over her glasses and her hair is concealing some of her face. I feel the lighting is successful and enough space is now available to add text onto the image to create my front cover therefore I will be using this image for my final front cover.
