The Double Page Spread.

I decided to do my double page spread on Microsoft Publisher, as it mad it easy to add text, and move around any pictures. I started out with making an A3 page and adding guides of 1.25cm for my text columns.

I added my picture to the background but it kept moving so i decided to add it as a master page. I also added a page number and a line above to separate it from the text that will be above it. I kept with the colour scheme of red, black and white and i plan to do this through the whole of the double page spread keeping it consistant.

For my title i used the same font as the front cover and placed the my singers name at the top of the page and in my research showed that this is common in all magazines. This keeps with the conventions of a music magazine. I also made the text red so it stood out.

When i added text originally the text overlapped my models body, not staying in the black area. I therefore added the same image as the background, overlapped it, and edited the points on the text wrapping to fit the area i want my text to avoid. Now by sending the image to the front and changing the mode to tight. i should make the text work around it.

I created the text boxes to fit the guide line i created before. I didn't make the forth columns as i didn't want text on her face.

To save time i linked the boxes so the text flowed from one box to the other.

When adding the text i noticed that my story was too long for the page, so i may need to create a single page so my story can fit on. I left room at the top for the subheading. i am creating a subheading as my research show that this is a common feature of articles.
I also added drop caps to the paragraphs. I used the Linken Font that is from the title of the magazine as it is the boldest of the fonts i have used.

So the corner of the page wasn't bare i added "new to crank" which i plan to add on my contents page. I also documented who took the image and wrote the article. Putting Robert Owen on both looked weird so i chose another name to put as the journalist.

For my subheading i thought of different quotes and anecdotes i could write. In the end i decided to encorporate words i used on the cover (she's back) and from that i just added what the article is about. I seperated the quote from the article using lines like i did for the page number at the bottom.

As there was room on the page i decided to add a quote from the article. The quote "I really didnt like the image i was giving off" gives the reader a taste of what the article is about as well as leaving the reader intrigued about what she is talking about.

When looking at the text on my double page spread, i thought that the quote and subheading looked odd as the veranda font. I therefore changed it to the typewriter font, to break it away from the main article. I also noticed that the space in the corner needing filling so i added the "introducing" which solved this.
