Photo Shoot Idea's/Research
Before i even thought about my photo shoot i wanted to research existing band photo shoots to give me some ideas on what they should do. Because i wanted to make an Indie mag i researched Indie bands such as The Strokes, The Killers and You Me At Six and Album covers. Most of these photo shoots had the band up against an old brick wall or just the band playing. I then printed these images off to show to the band.
First Photo Shoot
Individual photo's
Firstly i decided to take photo's of the individual band members so every one will know who is in the band and what instrument they play instead of just writing it.
I also had an idea to make a panel of all the photo's at the bottom of the double page spread. And maybe one covering one side of the double page.
Some of the pictures were a little bit dark so i edited the brightness and contrast on photo shop to make the image clearer and crisper.
Then i wanted to take some typical 'Indie' poses which i had previously researched with the band just leaning against the wall, having a chat or just walking down a corridor. Some of these images were unclear and some band memebers had been blocked.
In some of the photo's one band member was smoking and i thought this wouldnt be suitable for a teenage audience influencing them to smoke.
I then asked them to just sit down and socialise like they would if i wasnt there, to show the readers how they spend there free time, this then got onto them messing around with a fire extinguisher and running up and down stairs which typical boys find fun. From this i found my front cover image with the boys all holding the fire extinguisher and looking up.
