Today, I researched some popular music magazines, such as 'Q' and 'Kerrang!' I looked at the fonts and colour schemes and how they constructed their front cover and contents pages. Most magazines of this genre use a variety of bold fonts and quite vibrant colour schemes in order to grab the reader's attention. The positioning of the fonts and images is also often slanted and positioned all over the page, which creates quite a modern, 'punky' atmosphere. 'Q' magazine's layout is slightly neater than 'NME' or 'Kerrang!'. I think this is because it is perhaps aimed at slightly older readers.
